Finding a therapist is easy.

San Francisco is filled with us.  Finding relief from mental and emotional discomfort is more challenging.  I have spent my professional career as a couples and individual therapist committed to developing the most effective, collaborative and practical ways to help my clients resolve their internal and interpersonal challenges in a safe and empathic setting.


More than this...

My work is about more than decreasing relationship and personal distress. The ultimate goal is full-blown happiness.  Fulfillment.  Satisfying, authentic connections with self, partners and others. Seriously: you get to be happy.


Couples therapy.  

Most of us long to be loved and cherished for who we are, and love and cherish whom we are with -- but repetitive negative patterns and their subsequent resentment, hurt and anger lead to withdrawal and conflict.  You may have already explored the commonly-held paths to a better relationship: learn new communication skills...make behavioral changes in the hopes that emotional closeness will follow...work on problem-solving through negotiation and compromise...but something still seems to be in the way. If your relationship lacks intimacy and satisfaction, you are not alone.  And if you have decided to try couples therapy (for the first time, or yet again), it doesn't have to be grueling and arduous.  After studying with renowned thought leaders in the field (Daniel Wile, Sue Johnson, John Gottman, Terence Real, et.al.), I offer a practical, fresh approach to uncover and dismantle negative interactive patterns so that each partner feels accepted, valued and seen.  


Individual therapy. 

Therapy is a relationship and a collaborative process.  The goal is not for me to tell you what to do or how to feel. Instead, we work to learn what gets in the way of your living your life fully -- what causes you to feel stuck, overwhelmed, lonely, stressed, anxious, depressed, angry or frustrated.  Together we will explore who you really are, where you want to go, and the pathways to get there.


Beyond Mindfulness.   

For the past twenty years I have received teachings from and meditated and studied with Bay Area meditation master Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche, author of "Our Pristine Mind: A Practical Guide to Unconditional Happiness." These profound teachings, and many others, are part of what I draw upon in working with clients, as they provide clear, tried-and-true methods for living a satisfying, productive life -- no matter what the external circumstances.
